Overview

Address Guard allows you to pause all address validation with a single setting. This is useful when you need to temporarily stop validation during setup, while making configuration changes, or when investigating an issue.

When address validation is disabled:

  • No orders will be processed through the validation engine

  • Customers will not see address prompts or suggestions

  • No email notifications will be sent for address issues

  • No order tags or holds will be applied

  • You will not be billed for order validations

All of your settings, customizations, and order history are preserved while validation is paused. When you re-enable validation, Address Guard will resume processing new orders using your existing configuration.

How to Disable Address Validation

  1. Go to: Display > Prompt

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page

  3. Find the Address Validation section

  4. Set the toggle to Disabled

  5. Click Save

Once disabled, Address Guard will stop validating orders immediately. Any orders placed while validation is disabled will not be checked and will proceed through checkout normally.

How to Re-Enable Address Validation

  1. Go to: Display > Prompt

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page

  3. Find the Address Validation section

  4. Set the toggle to Enabled

  5. Click Save

Address Guard will begin validating new orders immediately. Orders that were placed while validation was disabled will not be retroactively validated.

When to Use This Setting

During initial setup

If you are configuring Address Guard for the first time and want to test settings before going live, you can keep validation disabled until you are ready.

When making configuration changes

If you need to make significant changes to your address rules, email templates, or other settings, you may want to pause validation temporarily to avoid unexpected behavior during the update.

When investigating an issue

If you are troubleshooting a problem with your store or with Address Guard, disabling validation can help isolate whether the issue is related to address verification.

What This Setting Does Not Affect

Disabling address validation does not uninstall the app or remove any data. The following are preserved:

  • Your account settings and configuration

  • Your order history and analytics

  • Your billing history

  • Your custom email templates and branding

  • Your address rules and order tag settings

When you re-enable validation, everything will work exactly as it did before.
