Overview

This guide will walk you through adding the address prompt to your thank you page (extensions based) in Shopify. Today Shopify offers 2 types of thank you pages:

  • Old Default

  • New Extensions based - This version will be the default starting March 2025, but brands can upgrade to it now.

If you're not sure which version you have currently, simply login to your Shopify store and go to: Settings > Checkout. There should be a section on the right which indicates, if you can upgrade to the new version.

Example screenshot of the upgrade message

In this example screenshot, our store is on the old thank you page (non-extensions based), and it is prompting us to upgrade. Once we upgrade to the new version, then we can follow this guide to add the validation extension to the thank you page.

Account Setup

Before the UI Extensions can show on your thank you page, the first step is to enable this option from your Display Options. From within your Address Guard account:

  • Display > Prompt

  • Click Banner (ui extensions only)

  • Click Save

Checkout Settings on Shopify

The second step is to add the checkout extension to your thank you page within Shopify. We highly recommend watching this quick 1 minute video to get setup fast:

Below are the steps indicated in the video, starting from your Shopify store:

  • Click Settings (bottom left)

  • Click Checkout > Customize Checkout

  • Click the dropdown at the top center of your screen where it says "Checkout" and select "Thank You" as the option.

  • On the bottom left of the screen, click "Add App Block"

  • Select Address Guard - Address Verification from the list

  • Click Save

You’re all set now to begin validating orders on the thank you page with UI extensions.
