Overview
The cancel order automation feature is a great way to prevent problematic orders from being fulfilled by your 3PL or warehouse, after an allocated time has occurred. This feature is exclusively for Shopify and Shopify Plus stores.
When this feature is enabled, if the customer does not update their shipping address issue which has since caused the order to be placed on-hold after a selected period of time, then order will automatically be canceled & refunded within Shopify.
By offering this functionality, your team can save valuable time by not manually handling cancellations for orders after a long on-hold delay occurs.
Get Started
Within your Address Guard account, please go to: Order Automations
Once on the page, click the "Enable" button to see the two available options for order processing:
Cancel order X days from when the reminder email was sent. If you're not yet utilizing the reminder email, this can be enabled by going to: Display > Email Notifications
Cancel order X days from when the order was placed on-hold.
Cancel Automation Process
The following is an example of how the feature works if option 2 is selected:
Option 2 is selected with 5 days
Customer places order on April 15, 2024 with an invalid address.
Order is placed on-hold in Shopify and an email is sent to the customer.
5 days have passed, and it's now April 20, 2024. The customer has still not yet fixed their shipping address > Address Guard will notify Shopify to cancel the customer's order and refund their payment.
