Overview
This guide will provide a common FAQ related to the types of addresses that are processed in the platform. By default, Address Guard will process any order via:
Standard Checkout via Online Store Channel
Imported via Sales Channel (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram or other marketplaces)
Manual upload (single & bulk tools available)
Note: Address Guard will only validate the shipping address. When a shipping address is updated, the billing address will remain the same.
FAQ
Q: What countries are covered?
A: Address Guard covers 240+ countries & territories, making it easier than ever to ensure all your customer shipments are covered. To see a full list of countries, please see our support guide.
Q: Which checkouts are covered?
A: Address Guard only processes orders that go through the standard Checkout flow or flow into your account via an outside Sales Channel (ex: TikTok for Shopify). If an order is processed outside of the standard Checkout flow (i.e.: via a custom app or custom page) and not via either of the 2 methods above, they will not be verified by Address Guard.
If you're utilizing a custom page or have a special scenario, please reach out to our team so we can better accommodate your requirements.
Q: How about express payment methods, such as PayPal or Apple Pay?
A: When customers pay with express payment methods (ex: PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon, etc.), they initially bypass the first step of the checkout flow. In this situation, once the customer lands on the Thank You page, the order is processed and the popup will display.
In general though, as long as the payment method routes the customer to the Thank You page (ex: Order Confirmation), Address Guard will be able to process the order.
Q: What orders will I be charged for?
A: You will be charged for all orders processed, regardless if the original address is correct. Address Guard does not know if an address is correct or not until it goes through the validation process.
Address Guard only charges 1 time per order, regardless of how many times a customer updates their address for re-validation. Depending on your validation location (from popup settings), orders are processed either via:
Before Checkout (Shopify Plus only) - if the customer enters their address on the shipping address page and clicks to continue, a charge will occur at this time since the address was processed for validation. If the customer abandons the cart and later returns, then changes their address, you're not charged again because this is the same order.
After Checkout - if the customer completes the order and lands on the Thank You page (ex: Order Confirmation), at this point the popup occurs and the order is processed.
