Overview

The Checkout Workflows feature allows Shopify Plus brands to customize how the validation prompt handles situations where multiple conditions are met. This feature is currently only available for Plus brands using checkout extensions.

Example:

Let's say your brand utilizes UPS as your shipping carrier, and a customer enters a PO Box address during checkout. Since UPS cannot ship to PO Boxes, our engine would detect these two conditions and show custom messaging preventing checkout. The customer would then be able to update their shipping address or select a different carrier (if available) to proceed.

Get Started

To begin setting up your custom workflows for Checkout, please go to:

  • Click Order Automations > Checkout Workflows

Create a Checkout Workflow

To get started, click on Add Workflow on the top right. The screen will now show a popup asking what conditions will trigger this workflow for your customers.

  • Address Trigger - this is the Address Line1 or Line2 first condition. Today we support: PO Box and US Military addresses, as these are common addresses that major carriers do not ship to.

  • Shipping Method Text - type in the shipping carrier name or method, such as "UPS Ground" or "FedEx". You can add as many options as needed, that will combine with the Address Trigger to prompt the customer.

Once your conditions have been setup, the next item is to customize the messaging to the customer during checkout. By default, we recommend using the Address Rule text, but you also have the capability to use custom messaging text as well.

After you've made all the updates, click Save and you're all set.
