Overview

Beyond our automated Email Validation service today which runs with your online orders, we also give you the flexibility to manually validate an email address both in single address format and bulk csv format.

This guide will walk you through both options.

Get Started

To get started with our Email Validation manual tools, go to:

  • Tools > Email Validation

There are two types of tools available:

  • Single Email - type in the email address and click Submit. Our service will validate the email address and offer results on the right side.

  • Bulk Email - upload a CSV with up to 10k rows per file and click Submit. Our service will validate all email addresses in the file and display results within the table at the bottom.

Single Email Validation Tool

Once you've entered in an email address and click Submit, our system will process the email and display the results on the right side. Today we show the following validation rules:

  • Quality - If the email address is Deliverable, Risky or Unknown. An Unknown quality email means that we were not able to fully connect to the inbox either due to an underlying issue with the inbox itself or temporary connection issue with the host. For this reason, we are not able to determine if the email is fully deliverable, and advise to proceed with caution.

  • Role - If the email address uses a company role within the email address, such as: support, inbox, general or other popular terms. A role based email can still be valid.

  • Disposable - A disposable email is one which was created for the sole purpose of being used for a one-time or temporary requirement. These are often regarded as "burner emails" or "throwaway emails", and will lead to hard bounces as they expire quickly.

  • Free - This will be display true, if the email is using a free email service, such as Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail, or various other types.

  • Detailed issue - If an issue is detected with the email address or we encountered a connection issue with the inbox, we display a detailed response here.

  • Address suggestion - If a basic issue is detected with the email domain such as a typo with a popular email vendor, we will display the email suggestion here.

Example results of a single email address

In this example, we can see that the email address is valid, fully deliverable, and does not have any of the cautionary marks such as being a disposable email.

Bulk Email Validation Tool

The bulk validation tool allows you to create & upload a CSV document with up to 10,000 rows per file. Address Guard will validate the file in real-time and display the results on the far right side.

When you create your CSV file its important to follow these requirements:

  • Row 1 must be the header row (ex: email address for column A).

  • Row 2 onward must contain 1 email address per row.

  • File cannot exceed 10,000 rows otherwise an error will occur.

There are two important sections to this tool:

  • Right Side file results - The right side (white block) area will display a pie chart with the breakdown % of the file, such as the % of emails which are deliverable, risky or unknown quality.

  • Upload History - The bottom table gives a complete breakdown count of the type of emails identified in the file. This includes both the deliverability of the email addresses, but also if the emails are disposable or catch all. Once the file has completed processing, we allow you to export the CSV results file. The file will include a summary per row of the email status. This will then allow you to have a clean file ready to upload to your email provider.

The billing rate for this service is the same for our automated email validation service, which is: $0.01 per email validation.
