Overview
This article is meant for Shopify brands who are utilizing Email Validation service, and would like to push Order Tags to their Shopify orders page. Tags are a great way to inform your team of any issues, and to be aware of corrections as well.
Before getting started, please ensure you've enabled Email Validation by going to: Order Automations > Email Validation
Get Started
When a customer enters an email address that either has an issue, a correction was made, or is in fact deliverable, we have the ability to push a related tag to your Shopify orders page. Similar to our Shipping Address validation service, tags are easy to setup and run automatically in the background.
To begin utilizing tags for Email Validation, go to:
Rules & Tags > Order Tags
Scroll down to the "Email Validation Tags" section and enable each tag
Once ready, click Save
Today we support 4 types of Email Validation tags:
Email Deliverable - This tag will be added if the customer’s email address is valid and fully deliverable.
Email Undeliverable - This tag will be added if the customer’s email address is invalid, and cannot receive messages. Sending emails to this address will result in a hard bounce for your domain reputation, and should be avoided.
Email Unknown or Risky - This tag will be added in the event that an email address server did not respond properly, unavailable or having a temporary issue. Due to these issues, we cannot properly assess whether or not the address is deliverable or not, and is marked as unknown / risky.
Email Corrected - This tag will be added when Address Guard is able to correct the customer’s email address either via autocorrection (domain typo) or if the customer updated the email via our form. In both cases, a decision was made by the customer to accept the changes, and the email address was updated in the system.
Tags in Shopify
Similar to our Shipping Address validation tags, with our Email Validation service, we will push the above 4 tags to the standard Tags area of your Shopify orders page.
Example with Email and Phone validation tags
In this example, we can see that the customer corrected their email address, and a tag was appended to the Shopify Tags area.
