Learn how to add order tags related to phone number validation issues in Shopify

Overview

This article is meant for Shopify brands who are utilizing the Phone Number Validation service, and would like to push Order Tags to their Shopify orders page. Tags are a great way to inform your team of any issues, and to be aware of corrections as well.

Before getting started, please ensure you've enabled Phone Number Validation by going to: Order Automations > Phone Validation.


Get Started

When a customer enters an phone number that either has an issue, a correction was made, or is in fact valid, we have the ability to push a related tag to your Shopify orders page. Similar to our Shipping Address validation service, tags are easy to setup and run automatically in the background.

To begin utilizing tags for Phone Number Validation, go to:

  • Rules & Tags > Order Tags

  • Scroll down to the "Phone Number Validation Tags" section and enable each tag

  • Once ready, click Save

Today we support 4 types of Phone Number Validation tags:

  • Phone Number Valid - This tag will be added if the customer’s phone number is valid; it does not specify the type of number. Be sure to check the Type tag to ensure this is a mobile number.

  • Phone Number Invalid - This tag will be added if the customer’s phone number is invalid.

  • Phone Number Type - This tag will be added detailing the type of phone number that was entered such as a Mobile or Landline. Be sure to check this tag before importing the number to your SMS marketing tool.

  • Phone Number Corrected - This tag will be added when the customer updates their Phone Number via the form based on a prompt from Address Guard.


Tags in Shopify

Similar to our Shipping Address validation tags, with our Phone Validation service, we will push the above 4 tags to the standard Tags area of your Shopify orders page.

In this example, we can see that the customer's phone number is valid and can receive messages.
