Overview
This article is meant for all Shopify brands who are utilizing our After Checkout (popup OR checkout extensions banner) feature for their address validation service, and would like to utilize Phone Number Validation as well.
Before getting started, please ensure you've enabled Phone Number Validation by going to: Order Automations > Phone Validation
Get Started
When a customer is prompted after checkout, our standard popup or checkout extension will appear (based on your prompt settings). Within the prompt, we will also display the customer's phone number and relevant response information so the customer can make an update.
There are two types of possible issues that can be displayed:
Phone Number Invalid - This validation response is shown when the phone number response was invalid.
Phone Number is not a mobile number - This validation response is shown when the phone number type is reported to not be a mobile number. Instead the type is indicated to be a landline, voip, prepaid or is unidentified. This customization works together with the Number Option setting indicated above, which can prevent non-mobile numbers from being entered with the customer's order.
The text for these two options can be customized by going to: Order Automations > Phone Validation), and scrolling down to the bottom.
Example with Phone Number (invalid via extension banner)
In this example, the customer has two issues:
The shipping address has a suggestion to be corrected
The phone number is invalid
Both instances are captured at once and the customer is prompted. From here, the customer can accept the shipping address changes, while also make updates to their phone number.
Note: If the customer fails to update their invalid phone number, we will attach Tags to the Shopify order so that your team is aware. Tags can be enabled by going to: Rules & Tags > Order Tags > Phone Number Validation Tags.
Example with Phone Number (non-mobile via popup)
In this example, the customer has two issues:
The shipping address has invalid text on Line1
The phone number is a non-mobile number
Both instances are captured at once and the customer is prompted. From here, the customer can update their information by clicking "Update Address" or "Proceed".
Note: If the customer fails to update their non-mobile phone number, we will attach Tags to the Shopify order so that your team is aware. Tags can be enabled by going to: Rules & Tags > Order Tags > Phone Number Validation Tags.
