Learn how to improve open & response rate with SMS

Written by Ryan Haidinger

Overview

When Address Guard indicates an inaccurate address, the address prompt will display to the customer. If the customer does not update the address, we don’t give up!

Today we offer two ways to follow up with the customer post-purchase:

For this article, we will automatically send an SMS notification to the customer asking them to update their address. SMS can be sent either through Address Guard directly OR via one of our partners such as Attentive or Postscript.

Get Started

To begin customizing your SMS notification, go to: Display > SMS Notifications

Provider

The first step is to select which provider will handle your outbound text messages. Today we offer 3 options:

  • Address Guard - our platform will send the text messages directly to your customers with the customized content in the Design section.

  • Attentive - connect your Attentive account to send text messages with your own customized designs & flows.

  • Postscript - connect your Postscript account to send text messages with your own customized designs & flows.

If you decide to allow Address Guard to send the text messages for you, we charge $0.01 per message sent (includes carrier fees) and will only deliver to the United States. The text message will be sent from a dedicated 10DLC number.

Design

This 2nd section allows you to customize the notification text sent to the customer. We include the common tags to insert order data, and also indicate the max character limit (160 for text messages).

Advanced

The 3rd section allows you to specify when the text message should be sent to the customer alongside your standard email notification service. We recommend to send the text message at least 4 hours after the initial email has been sent.
